Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is taking advantage of viral exposure with her new line of merchandise. After a dispute with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), the politician is parlaying her alliterative “bleach blonde, bad built, butch body” insult into a fundraising opportunity.
Crockett announced the Crockett Clapback Collection on Wednesday (May 22) via social media, with revenue going towards campaign efforts. The full collection is set to feature wearable political sayings and potentially, Crockett’s likeness, according to the X reveal. She first teased the collection last week.
“The proceeds will go towards my campaign to help OUR Democracy,” explained the 43-year-old.
“I am able to spot fakes immediately, b/c we intentionally made an error knowing that people would try to steal the design before we were ready & before we submitted for a trademark.”
“Bleach blonde, bad built, butch body,” sometimes shortened to B6, was hurled at Greene after she threw the first jab at Crockett during a congress meeting, commenting on the Democratic representative’s false eyelashes.
“I think her specifically doing it to me, yes, that was the intent,” Crockett explained when asked if Greene’s initial comment had racist motives.
“Women wear makeup, we wear lashes, we wear all types of things to beautify ourselves. But MAGA has historically been on social media doing the things where they’re saying, ‘Oh, she’s Black with lashes and nails and hair, and so she’s ghetto.’ And so, to me, this was her buying into that rhetoric and trying to amplify this for the MAGA crowd. And so, yes, I absolutely think that she only did it to be racist towards me.”
After the incident, Greene took to social media to respond to the insult with a display of physical strength.
“Yes my body is built and strong,” wrote the 49-year-old on Instagram, captioning a video of her lifting weights.
“NOT with nips, tucks, plastic, or silicone, but through a healthy lifestyle. Soon turning 50 years old, God willing, I will continue to lift, run, swim, play sports, surf, ski, climb and LIVE this life to the fullest and enjoy every single moment!”
