Iron & Wine have confirmed their return with a new song titled ‘In Your Ocean’, offering the first glimpse of their forthcoming album ‘Hen’s Teeth’. You can listen to the track below.
The project of South Carolina singer songwriter Sam Beam, Iron & Wine have been releasing music since the early 2000s and have collaborated over the years with artists including Fiona Apple, Calexico and Jesca Hoop.
The band’s eighth studio album will be titled ‘Hen’s Teeth’ and is scheduled for release on February 27 via Sub Pop. Fans are now able to pre order the record ahead of its arrival.
Lead single ‘In Your Ocean’ finds Beam exploring a form of devotion so intense it borders on total surrender. On the track, he sings of wanting to lose himself completely in another person, delivering the line “Praying for dry ground / Though I only want to drown / When I find myself swimming in your ocean”.

‘Hen’s Teeth’ has been described as a companion release to Iron & Wine’s 2024 album ‘Light Verse’, which earned a Grammy nomination. Produced by Dave Way, whose credits include Fiona Apple, Jakob Dylan and Sheryl Crow, the album also marks Beam’s first time recording with his daughter Arden. She contributes vocals to ‘Roses’, ‘Singing Saw’, ‘Defiance, Ohio’ and ‘Grace Notes’.
The Grammy winning Americana trio I’m With Her also appear on the album, featuring on the songs ‘Robin’s Egg’ and ‘Wait Up’.
Beam has shared his thoughts on the meaning behind the album title, explaining: “To me it suggests the impossible. Hen’s teeth do not exist. And that’s what this record felt like: a gift that shouldn’t be there but it is. An impossible thing but it’s real.”
The ‘Hen’s Teeth’ tracklist is:
‘Roses’
‘Paper And Stone’
‘Robin’s Egg’ featuring I’m With Her
‘Singing Saw’
‘In Your Ocean’
‘Defiance, Ohio’
‘Wait Up’ featuring I’m With Her
‘Grace Notes’
‘Dates And Dead People’
‘Half Measures’
Iron & Wine have also confirmed plans to tour the UK later in 2026, with full details expected to be announced in due course.
Last year, Beam also took part in a special benefit concert marking the 20th anniversary of Zach Braff’s indie drama Garden State, a film that famously featured Iron & Wine’s music across its soundtrack.
