nterviews from Jay-Z are increasingly rare these days, yet they still do happen. Case in point: Shawn’s recent sit-down with British newspaper The Sunday Times.

Throughout his sit-down with Louis Wise, Jay spoke on life during the (never-ending) pandemic (“If anything came from this, it’s that we have to recognize that we’re all connected. It’s a metaphor for how connected we are”) , his legacy (“Hopefully, they speak of me [with] the names of Bob Marley and all the greats. But that’s not for me to say”), and more. One of the relatively major issues he spoke on, however, was the rumors that he and Beyoncé allegedly purchased the masters of the late DMX to give to his children.

“No one has bought Earl’s masters,” Jay said. “Additionally, we are not selling any merch or raising money for Earl’s funeral. If anyone is requesting for money for his funeral please be aware the person is a scammer. We will keep the public posted on funeral/memorial service arrangements.”

[Ed. note: this interview took place prior to DMX’s funeral on April 24, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.]

The entire interview can be read here.
