J. Cole has taken it back to the blog era by announcing the launch of his own blog, mirroring a past move by one of his Hip Hop heroes, Kanye West.

Just a few hours before he celebrated his 40th birthday, the Dreamville rapper made his blogging debut on Monday (January 27) under the banner of The Algorithm, which is available to read on his Inevitable website.

In his first post, Cole wrote: “This is just a place for me to share. I been wanting a lil blog for years. Somewhere to post random shit I fuck with where the audience is way smaller than it is on the social media platforms. Finally pulled the trigger, bare with us as we still developing this page and the layout.”

He also posted a link to L.A. rapper Ahmad’s wistful 1994 track “Back in the Day” and wrote: “Respect to AHMAD. I played this joint last night and was like ‘damn! there go my first post for the blog.'”

He added: “Been loving this song since I was like 9 years old on Lewis street begging my mom for a bike I heard about called a GT performer. Now at midnight I will turn 40. Might save the sentimentals for a post tomorrow.

“But in a nutshell I’m GRATEFUL. Happy new year to yall and God bless. 2025 will be a good one.”

Fans are hoping that J. Cole’s promise of a good 2025 means that he will be dropping his next album, The Fall Off.

He previously suggested that the long-awaited project would arrive ahead of the fifth and final iteration of Dreamville Festival which takes place in April.

At his 10th anniversary 2014 Forest Hills Drive concert at Madison Square Garden in December, Cole told the audience in attendance: “I’ll see y’all at Dreamville Festival. Hopefully I’ll have something new to perform for y’all.”

J. Cole is also not the first rapper to try his hand at blogging. Kanye West ran KanyeUniversecity.com until 2010 where he would share his thoughts on everything from fashion to video games, as well as behind-the-scenes photos and links to his favorite music.

Tyler, The Creator also had a blog between 2007 and 2010 where he would detail the happenings of his life before deleting all but the last post once he blew up.
