Ja Rule has addressed whether he will be performing at Fyre Festival 2 after the infamous failure of the first event.

Appearing on FOX 5’s Good Day, New York, the former Murder Inc. rapper was asked about his involvement in the festival, which he co-organized and was later ruled to be a fraudulent scam ran by Billy McFarland.

Quizzed about McFarland’s plan to host a second festival and whether he would be involved, Ja said: “Oh Lord? No, he isn’t!” before jokingly trying to change the subject by toasting with host Rosanna Scotto.

He then clarified: “Nah, I’m not going to be there, but cheers!”

Eight years on from the original festival, McFarland is attempting to revive the event on Isla Mujeres, a tropical island off the coast of Cancún, Mexico.

However, the island’s tourism head has denied any knowledge of such plans.

McFarland previously suggested that 50 Cent should perform at Fyre Festival 2 instead of Ja Rule.

Asked by TMZ last year about talent he was looking to get onboard, McFarland said: “I’m actually gonna try to call 50 Cent later today and come and see if he’ll headline Sunday night … We gotta give 50 Cent the spot so he can do what Ja Rule never could.”

In 2018, the New York-based businessman was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud. He was released in 2022.

In April 2021, the festival’s organizers and 277 ticketholders came to an agreement on a $2 million settlement in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York.

“Billy [McFarland] went to jail, ticket holders can get some money back, and some very entertaining documentaries were made,” attorney Ben Meiselas, who represented the duped customers, relayed to The New York Times. “Now that’s justice.”

The festival was infamous for paying noted influencers such as Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski to promote the event on social media with the promise of a luxury experience in The Bahamas.

Instead, when customers arrived, they were not housed in luxury villas but tents. The promise of fine dining was also replaced by pre-packed sandwiches served in foam containers.

Artists booked to perform at the event included Pusha TLil YachtyRae SremmurdTyga and Migos, although they all pulled out before the start of the festival.
