Laufey has today (April 3) returned with a dreamy new love song, ‘Silver Living’ – check out the song and its new video below.

The track is the first new material since her breakthrough album ‘Bewitched’ and sees the musician explore her “inner child” on the love song.

Laufey explained: “‘Silver Lining’ is a love song about being able to set your true personality free when you fall in love. Your inner child comes out and you are emboldened by lust. Even if it takes you to hell, at least you’re with your partner.”

The video sees Laufey and her love interest attend a fantastical masquerade ball surrounded by colourful characters and Rite of Spring-inspired choreography.

Eventually, the party turns into a surreal hellscape, with Laufey and her partner “descending…into a chaos of their own making,” according to a press release.

The video was directed by Jason Lester and you can watch it here:

Back in March Laufey was one of several musicians that included The Shins to cover Tom Petty‘s ‘Free Fallin’ at a benefit concert celebrating the 20th anniversary of Garden State.

The concert, which ran in benefit of Los Angeles charity Midnight Mission, took place last month (March 29) at the Greek Theatre.

Back in December last year, the musician also surprised audiences at St Pancras with a surprise performance at London’s St. Pancras. Laufey sat by a piano and treated onlookers to live renditions of some tracks.

Among the songs she performed was the festive classic, ‘Winter Wonderland’, which was then followed by her hit single ‘From Re Start’. Another track she broke out was the song ‘Christmas Magic’ from the Christmas film Red One.

Speaking to NME for The Cover last year, Laufey shared her dream of bringing jazz to the masses through her music.

“I always said to my mom, I remember when I was 11 in the car, ‘I want to do for jazz music what Taylor Swift did for country music’,” she told us. “With every day, with every little achievement, I feel like I’m getting closer to that goal of bringing jazz back to my generation.”

Last year, the musician took home the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for her album, ‘Bewitched’.

In a five-star review of the recordNME described it as “confident and musically ambitious, melding jazz, pop and modern classical composition”.

“The Icelandic-Chinese star’s second record ‘Bewitched’ enchants in its own beautiful, unique way,” it read. “Richly detailed orchestral arrangements and her masterful musicality – the multi-hyphenate is an acclaimed cellist, and studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston – support her thoroughly Gen Z ripostes.”
