News : Wolf Alice share lyrics to new single ‘Bloom’ along with jaunty potential snippet

Wolf Alice have signalled that they are about to kick off a new era by sharing a potential preview of an unreleased song, along with lyrics and a possible title. See the posts below.

The London band revamped their official social media channels last night (April 16), launching a new logo and directing fans to their website. Upon clicking the link, users are asked to input a password.

Some have found a way onto the page, however, via this link. It takes you to a site named ‘Bloom – Wolf Alice’ – which is a possible title for the group’s upcoming single and/or fourth album.

Beneath the fresh black-and-gold band logo is the phrase: “Every flower needs to neighbour with the dirt.”

Here, fans can sign up by submitting their email address. When confirming the subscription, Wolf Alice promise that they’ll “be in touch soon” with more information. Subscribers were later sent an email with the subject ‘Bloom’.

It contains what appears to be a lyric sheet, beginning with the lines: “Do I have to make you, sit on your hands/ Fucking baby, baby man/ Do you want me to show you, who I am/ See this fire in my eyes boy/ That’s your flash in the pan.”

The handwritten note also features the previously-shared lyric: “Every flower needs to neighbour with the dirt.” Another line reads: “But I’ll bloom baby bloom/ Watch me and you’ll see just what I’m worth.” See below.

When clicking on the image in the email, fans are given the option to listen to a nine-second clip of music. The jaunty snippet – comprised of an upbeat piano part and handclaps – could form part of what is believed to be called ‘Bloom’.

But when you Shazam the preview, it is identified as Kamelot’s ‘Pozor, tunel!’ from 1994, among other tracks. It has also been noted that the same portion of music has been used on various TikTok videos in the past. The teaser could therefore just be a placeholder, sample, or indeed an indication of what’s to come.

Elsewhere, frontwoman Ellie Rowsell continued the floral theme by sharing numerous photographs of flowers on her personal Instagram. Bassist Theo Ellis, meanwhile, posted a single flower emoji on X/Twitter.

Earlier this week, Wolf Alice began hinting at their imminent return by replying to numerous tweets from fans. “Had a dream last night that Wolf Alice announced their new album,” one person wrote, to which the band responded: “Dream or vision?”

When a fan account said that “Wolf Alice are BACK”, Ellis replied with an egg timer – suggesting the group were counting down to something coming soon.

Speculation about new music from Wolf Alice began when they were announced as part of the line-up for Glastonbury 2025. They have since been confirmed for Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool next month.

In early 2024, the band signed with major label Columbia Records after completing their three-album deal with the independent Dirty Hit.

Wolf Alice haven’t played a full show together since late 2022. The previous year, they released their third and most recent studio effort ‘Blue Weekend’. The critically-acclaimed record went to Number One in the UK, and was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize.

In 2022, Wolf Alice earned multiple NME Award nominations, including Best Album By A UK Artist and Best Album In The World for ‘Blue Weekend’. They won the Best Festival Headliner prize that year.

NME gave ‘Blue Weekend’ a glowing five-star review, calling it “a masterpiece full of confidence and magic”. The collection also landed at Number Three on NME‘s 50 best albums of 2021 list.
