It looks like Faces could be gearing up to release their first new album in over 50 years.

The rock band – which features Rod StewartThe Rolling Stones‘ guitarist Ronnie Wood and drummer Kenney Jones – have been hinting at a reunion in recent years, and now it has been confirmed that they have recorded 11 new tracks for a new album.

Rumours of a comeback first got momentum in 2020, when the trio came together to perform a live rendition of their song ‘Stay With Me’ at that year’s BRIT Awards. The following year, Wood took things up a notch when he spoke to The Times and said that the fellow members recently visited his new London home and that they “have been recording some new Faces music”.

Around that same time, Rod Steward teased that he, Wood and Jones had completed “15 tracks that are extremely worthy, some old, some new” (via Louder), and Jones made a similar statement elsewhere, stating: “It’s a mixture of stuff we never released which is worthy of releasing and there’s some new stuff which is really wonderful… Rod is writing the lyrics and he’s really keen on it.”

Although nothing materialised from there, it seems that new material from the trio is still looking likely. This comes as the drummer recently spoke to The Telegraph, and said that Faces have recorded “about 11 tracks” at the RAK studios in London.

The also confirmed that a 2026 release date is most realistic for the new music to be shared, and that Jools Holland has a guest appearance on one song.

“Not all of them are going to be right [for the album], but most of them are good,” he said. “I can’t see it coming out this year. But I can see it coming out next year. Everyone’s doing different things. We do little snippets [of recording] here and there. Then all of a sudden, The Stones are out [on tour] again, Rod’s out again…”

Later in the interview, Jones also dropped hints that a new documentary about the band is in the works, sharing that he recently had a meeting “with Rod and Ronnie” about it.

The band formed in 1969 from the ashes of Small Faces, and formally disbanded in 1975 after Stewart left the group. Around the same time, Wood began playing with The Rolling Stones. In their time together, Faces recorded four studio albums, the most recent being ‘Ooh La La’, which was shared back in 1973.

Faces’ founding keyboardist Ian McLagan died of a stroke in 2014, and bassist Ronnie Lane passed away more than a decade earlier in 1997.

The rumours about a Faces comeback comes amid speculation that the band could appear together this summer, as Rod Stewart is set to play Glastonbury 2025’s Legend Slot on Sunday June 29.

The huge gig will see him return to Worthy Farm after previously headlining in 2002 alongside Coldplay and Stereophonics.

Speaking about the upcoming gig, the rock veteran said that while it is an “honour” to be chosen, he is planning on splashing out financially for the slot.

“It’s going to cost me a fortune to do it – $300,0000 (£236,832),” he said. “I’ve got to bring all my band back from America, of course Glastonbury don’t pay for that. But I don’t care if it cost me $1million (£789,440), I would have done it.

“This is a great honour. It really is the greatest honour.”

At time of writing, few details are know about when Faces will share new material or announce the documentary. It is also worth noting that nothing has been confirmed about whether the band will come together for Rod Stewart’s Glasto slot.
