News : Superchunk Announce New Album, Share New Song: Listen

Indie-rock mainstays Superchunk are back with new music. Songs in the Key of Yikes, their 13th studio LP and follow-up to 2022’s Wild Loneliness, arrives August 22 via Merge. Superchunk have shared the new song “Is It Making You Feel Something” to ring in the news, and you can listen to it below; scroll down for Superchunk’s upcoming tour dates.

“This song is about not second-guessing yourself in the very second-guessable process of writing words and music,” said bandleader Mac McCaughan. “It’s about the legitimate question of ‘who needs this and what is it good for?’ but also about not setting such a high bar for making art that you never get started. ‘Is it making you feel something?’ OK, that’s a place to start.”

Along with “Is It Making You Feel Something,” Songs in the Key of Yikes will include Superchunk’s recent songs “Everybody Dies” and “Bruised Lung.” McCaughan is joined on the new album by bassist Laura Ballance, guitarist Jim Wilbur, and drummer Laura King. There are also guest contributions from Rosali Middleman, Bella Quinlan, Quivers’ Holly Thomas, and touring bassist Betsy Wright.
