Sir Paul McCartney is encouraging fans to celebrate the soaring legacy of Wings with the launch of the self-titled definitive anthology.
Carefully guided by McCartney himself, the extensive release highlights Wings’ journey from post-Beatles experimentation to international stardom, presenting a wide-ranging musical and visual experience across several formats.
Arriving on November 7 in a selection of beautifully crafted editions, WINGS offers something for every listener. Collectors can explore the 3LP Limited Edition Color Vinyl set, which features remastered songs and rare images, while newcomers can begin with the single CD or LP editions. Every version includes a booklet with a personal introduction written by McCartney, and the deluxe 3LP and 2CD packages expand into a 32-page collection filled with photographs, artwork, paintings, trivia, and behind-the-scenes stories.
Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell from Hipgnosis, the legendary design team responsible for seven Wings albums, reunites with McCartney to create the artwork. Powell provides detailed notes on each record, supported by commentary from Pete Paphides and original illustrations by Humphrey Ocean, who famously joined Wings on tour in 1976 as their artist in residence.
For dedicated sound enthusiasts, the Blu-ray edition presents Wings’ catalog in Dolby Atmos for the very first time on a physical format, delivering a rich, multidimensional soundscape that reimagines the band’s music in a new way.
The collection brings together classic songs, including Band on the Run, Live and Let Die, Jet, Let ’Em In, My Love, Listen to What the Man Said, Silly Love Songs, and With a Little Luck. These remain central to McCartney’s concerts today. It also captures the band’s versatility, moving across genres from pop and folk to soul, reggae, and experimental rock with tracks like C Moon, Arrow Through Me, Wild Life, and Goodnight Tonight.
Formed in 1971 with Linda McCartney and Denny Laine, Wings grew out of McCartney’s wish to rediscover the collaborative spirit of playing in a group after The Beatles ended. Over the course of ten years, the band released seven studio albums and carved out an adventurous path that combined creativity with commercial success. McCartney built a fresh identity through Wings, often facing critical doubt and constant lineup changes, but refusing to look back.
With sales topping 22 million albums globally and massive hits like Mull of Kintyre, which became the best-selling single in UK history, Wings proved that McCartney’s post-Beatles era was far more than just an afterthought.
