Liam Gallagher called out a fan who set off flares during Oasis’ show at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Friday, describing the person as a “seriously fucked up individual” in a post he shared on social media after the incident.
“To the massive CUNT who launched that flare into the crowd last night at the gig in Melbourne, you are one seriously fucked up individual and you will get yours, trust me,” Gallagher wrote on X following the performance.
The flares went off during the band’s finale of “Champagne Supernova” at the opening night of their Australian tour. The group is set to perform again at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Nov. 1 and Nov. 4 before heading to Sydney for shows at Accor Stadium on Nov. 7 and Nov. 8.
In fan-shot footage from the packed concert, one flare can be seen shooting up into the air from the audience and landing in the floor section, igniting flames that were quickly contained. A second flare was seen moments later, flying into another part of the crowd nearby.
One attendee, identified as Virginia, told Australian outlet news.com.au that she saw two separate flashes go off during the show. “Each time you saw this flash, it looked like a fire, and then it was contained fairly quickly,” said Virginia, who attended the concert with her family.
She added, “I was there with my 13-year-old daughter, so once that went off, I thought it was bad and decided we’d leave before the end of the song to get outside.”
It remains unclear how the flares made it into the stadium. Virginia told news.com.au that security was checking bags and scanning attendees before they entered the venue.
According to 9 News Australia, police in Victoria confirmed that the incident was not formally reported and no arrests were made. Marvel Stadium also stated that no one was injured and added, “We’ll leave the on record comments to Liam Gallagher’s post.”
