Cynthia Erivo was delighted to take the stage as the opening performer for the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Positioned on a small platform set in the middle of the street, the Wicked: For Good star kicked off the beloved New York City tradition on Thursday morning with her version of the classic song Feeling Good.
Dressed in a striking burgundy coat and matching hat, surrounded by autumn leaves, Cynthia performed with pianist Mark G. Meadows accompanying her.
Feeling Good was written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse in 1964 and has been interpreted by many performers over the decades, though Nina Simone’s rendition from her 1965 album I Put a Spell on You remains the most recognised.
Following her powerful performance, Cynthia used a pair of large gold scissors to cut the official parade ribbon while the Radio City Rockettes stood behind her.
“Welcome to Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Are we ready? Now, let us have a parade,” she announced.
After finishing her appearance, Cynthia shared her excitement on Instagram.
“What an honor to open the parade this year. Thank you for having me @macys @nbc @peacock. Now time to get back home to celebrate with my family and friends. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours,” the thirty eight year old wrote.
Other performers featured throughout the event included EJAE, Audrey Nuna and REI AMI, who provide the singing voices for HUNTR or X in Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, along with Broadway’s Buena Vista Social Club, Ciara, Gavin DeGraw, Foreigner, Debbie Gibson, Mickey Guyton, Jewel, Lil Jon, Kool and the Gang, Darlene Love, Taylor Momsen, Busta Rhymes, Calum Scott, Shaggy and Teyana Taylor.
