The BRIT Awards 2026 with Mastercard has revealed the three artists chosen for this year’s Critics’ Choice, supported by BBC Radio 1: Jacob Alon, Rose Gray, and SIENNA SPIRO. The selection continues its long-standing role as an early indicator of rising British talent, with the final winner scheduled to be announced in January.

These nominees join an impressive list of former honourees who later reached worldwide recognition, including Adele, Dua Lipa, Sam Smith, Jorja Smith, Griff, and Myles Smith. The category has returned to its original title, Critics’ Choice, to highlight the significance of early critical praise.

Jacob Alon, originally from Fife, offers a mix of folk-inspired honesty and strong pop sensibilities. Recently shortlisted for the Mercury Prize for their debut album In Limerence and celebrated for a standout performance at Glastonbury, Jacob’s emotionally rich, piano-focused approach has earned widespread attention, including becoming the first Scottish recipient of BBC Introducing’s Artist of the Year. “I really care about and believe in this music and it makes my world brighter every time it reaches someone else,” Jacob said in response to the nomination.

East London’s Rose Gray is known for her exhilarating blend of club energy and sharp, modern pop. Her debut project Louder, Please has quickly propelled her forward, leading to European tours and collaborations with major artists. “This moment feels like a special reminder of how far this journey has carried me and what a crazy year it’s been,” Rose shared about receiving her nomination.

Completing the list is SIENNA SPIRO, who has quickly grown into a standout presence with her warm vocal tone and cinematic storytelling. Her recent single, the emotional ballad Die On This Hill, became her first entry into the UK Top 10. Alongside sold-out shows and notable performances with Sam Smith, SIENNA is shaping a career grounded in honesty and emotional depth. “So beyond honoured and grateful to be nominated,” she said.

The BRIT Awards 2026 will air on ITV and ITVX on Saturday, February 28th, marking the first time the ceremony will take place outside London, with the celebration moving to Manchester’s Co-op Live.
