Timothée Chalamet has spoken out about speculation that he might be the viral UK rapper EsDeeKid.
The Marty Supreme actor has been the subject of online theories suggesting he is the masked Liverpudlian musician. Fans point to his long-standing love of hip-hop, his past persona as Lil Timmy Tim, and a close-up of the anonymous rapper’s eyes that many claim look identical to Chalamet’s as reasons for the rumour.
During an appearance on Heart FM, he was asked directly if the speculation was accurate. He responded with a playful, “I’ve got no comment on that."
He then added, “I got two words on that..."
Chalamet hinted at more to come by remarking that “all will be revealed in due time”.
The rumours first took off when EsDeeKid released his debut album, Rebel, in June.
The rapper keeps his identity concealed by wearing a balaclava and has never shared his name or age. He has only confirmed that he comes from Liverpool and continues to live in a council house. His music has collected astonishing streaming numbers, with Phantom featuring Rico Ace accumulating more than 90 million Spotify plays. Rebel also climbed to number 16 on the Official UK Albums Chart.
EsDeeKid is preparing for a tour across North America and Australia next year, and he is also set to perform at Outbreak Fest 2026 in London.
At the same time, Chalamet has Dune: Part Three (Dune: Messiah) scheduled for release in 2026. He is also connected to James Mangold’s High Side, in which he would play a MotoGP racer. Whether his filming timetable leaves him enough time to make appearances at the rapper’s upcoming shows is uncertain.
In addition, the Hollywood star will receive the Spotlight Actor of the Year Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, honouring his acclaimed work in Marty Supreme.
The award will be given during the festival’s well-known Film Awards ceremony on January 3 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The full festival takes place from January 2 to January 12, drawing major filmmakers and talent from around the world.
Festival Chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi celebrated Chalamet’s performance in Marty Supreme, calling it a defining moment in his career. He explained that Chalamet’s depiction of Marty Mauser reveals both fierce ambition and deep emotional vulnerability, describing it as one of the most striking performances of the year.
Chandi said: “In Marty Supreme, Timothée Chalamet delivers a performance which marks a true milestone in his career."
He continued: “Within a dynamic struggle for glory, Chalamet’s portrayal of Marty Mauser transforms this narrative into a deeply human story of ambition and longing. This is one of his finest roles to date and one of the best standout performances of the year, sure to be celebrated throughout the awards season. We are honoured to present Timothée Chalamet with the Spotlight Actor of the Year Award, recognising a remarkable artist at the height of his craft.”
