Lady Gaga is treating her fans to the Lady Gaga in Harlequin Live — One Night Only concert film, set to arrive on Christmas Eve on 24.12.25.
Her Harlequin soundtrack, which has earned a nomination for Best Traditional Pop Album at the upcoming Grammy Awards, features reimagined versions of songs from 2024’s Joker: Folie à Deux, the film in which Gaga takes on the role of Harley Quinn.
The intimate concert took place at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles on September 30, 2024, with only a small number of Little Monsters in attendance.
According to Gaga, the festive season felt like the right moment to unveil the film globally, calling it an ideal window to release something with a rebellious spirit.
While speaking during a conversation hosted by the Grammy Museum, she explained: “I’m feeling like: Why not? We have this thing that’s so special to us, so we’re just really happy to share it with the fans. It’s kind of a rebellious project. And, by Harlequin standards, Christmas is the perfect time to release something rebellious.”
Addressing why the project was not shared sooner, Gaga added: “It was interesting — when we first saw the footage, we said, ‘This is not the right time to put this out.’ And we collectively agreed that we would allow the lore of the Belasco performance to bloom with the fans, until it felt like time… And so this is like a Christmas present.”
The setlist features rock inspired takes on That’s Entertainment, If My Friends Could See Me Now and When the Saints Go Marching In, alongside the original track Happy Mistake.
For the performance, Gaga was backed by a tight six piece band.
The concert film will debut on Gaga’s YouTube channel at 4pm PT and at midnight GMT.
Meanwhile, Gaga has also shared that she has been writing new material while out on the Mayhem Ball Tour.
Speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, she said: "I've been making a lot of music, and it's kind of the best making music when you get to see your fans every night because you're energetically just right where you need to be."
Elsewhere, The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, fueled collaboration rumors after sharing a throwback image of Gaga from her The Fame era on his Instagram Story.
Remaining coy, Gaga responded when Lowe showed her the post during their chat: "I love Abel! It’s all I can say."
Looking back on the 2008 shoot, she reflected: “In that photo, I look so immersed, completely in that moment.
“I remembered how I artistically directed every photo and every moment that I wanted my fans to see.”
She also added: “It was really sweet that he posted that."
The Timeless hitmaker had shared the image of Gaga standing in front of a black Lexus with the license plate reading LADYGAGA.
No caption accompanied the post, leaving fans to speculate about its meaning.
Roughly a year ago, there was already chatter that The Weeknd might appear on Mayhem, though no collaboration surfaced when the album was released in March.
