Luke Combs has decided to step back from a planned pre Super Bowl performance as his wife prepares to welcome their baby, with the due date now just around the corner.
On Thursday, organisers behind EA Sports’ Madden Bowl confirmed that the country singer would no longer be appearing at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California on Friday evening. Fellow country artist Zach Bryan has been brought in to take over as the event’s headliner.
“Update: Luke has to hold it down at home with a new one on the way,” EA Sports officials shared on Instagram. “All love for Luke and his family and we can’t wait to put on an unforgettable #MaddenBowl with @zachlanebryan leading an incredible night of music and football for the fans.”
The 35 year old later addressed fans directly through his Instagram Stories, offering an apology to those who had tickets to the show inspired by EA Sports’ American football video game franchise Madden NFL.
“So sorry to miss y'all at Madden Bowl, but family always comes first,” he wrote. “Have a great time.”
Zach Bryan is still set to take the stage alongside Teddy Swims, Stephen Wilson Jr., Gavin Adcock and LaRussell on Friday, just two days before the Super Bowl kicks off at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Sunday.
When the Madden Bowl bill was first revealed in early January, Combs said at the time that “playing Madden has been something I've always done,” adding that agreeing to perform at the event was “a no brainer.”
Combs and his wife Nicole are already parents to sons Tex, three, and Beau, two. The couple, who tied the knot in 2020, shared the news that they were expecting their third child back in September.
