Future has teamed up with a French luxury fashion house for a new collection of items, ranging from t-shirts and briefcases to chains and sunglasses.
On Monday (November 20), the trap icon unveiled his first-ever collaboration with LANVIN LAB. According to the company’s website, the unisex collection “emphasizes Future’s love of layering and tailoring, with an impressive flair for accessories.”
Two symbols appear as recurring themes of the Future x LANVIN LAB collab, the site further explained. The Eagle — which also appears in the Freebandz logo — represents “courage, majesty and truth, as well as a sense of flying high with bird’s eye vision.” The Star, on the other hand, appears as a sign of protection, empowerment and guidance.
The new collection was inspired by the LANVIN archives, which Future drew from directly to design one signature piece: a leather jacket featuring metallic studs that form a constellation. Pluto also had the lettering from Lanvin perfume campaigns from the 1930s and ’40s printed onto the denim in his new line; and developed his own updated Lanvin sneaker: the Curb 3.0.
“I created a vibe with this collection, something you can feel when you wear it,” the Atlanta rapper said about his latest endeavor. “Jeanne Lanvin drew inspiration from her life and lifestyle. We are the same in that way, we create from experience.”
Future knows a thing or two about fashion, and a co-sign from him has proven to carry a great deal of value in that space. Two years ago, he teamed up with blossoming streetwear brand RHUDE, helping establish the new company in the market. In April 2021, RHUDE unveiled its first-ever campaign titled “Rhude Boy,” with the multi-platinum artist as the face of the collection.
Speaking to Complex around the launch of the campaign, the company’s founder and creative director Rhuigi Villaseñor said the rapper’s involvement with their team came about naturally given that he was a longtime fan of their product.
“Future and I have known each other for some time and grew together organically with him supporting and wearing the brand as well as me advancing in my career,” Villaseñor said. “With the grace of the wonderful Ebonie Ward (Future’s manager) and Future, we came up with an idea to recalibrate Future’s look with my current and next collection. After that the rest is history.”
The streetwear brand’s campaign aimed to uplift and celebrate the “Rhude Boy” aesthetic, fusing streetwear elements with high fashion while emphasizing functionality and tailoring.
“There’s no better ambassador and friend of Rhude than Wizard, Future,” he continued. “I think this is a new approach for what the brand has been focused on doing but as for anything in my career, everything has been organic. It’s what makes sense for the ethos and DNA of the brand. The campaign is approached as The Modern Gentleman, what that means to me. So this is meant to be a proposal for the new look; It’s meant to be timeless.”
Future is certainly feeling creative when it comes to collaborations, extending beyond this latest partnership with Lanvin to guest verses on releases by Meek Mill and Rick Ross, Quavo and DJ Khaled and a rumored joint project with Metro Boomin. But outside of a leaked track in October, the prolific artist has yet to announce plans to put out any new music of his own in the coming months or weeks.
