Producer Mike Zombie has seemingly responded to speculation that he has been acting as Kendrick Lamar‘s mole within Drake‘s camp in their high-profile beef.
In a video posted on TikTok, a fan offered a detailed theory explaining why Zombie — who was previously signed to OVO Sound and is best known for producing Drake’s “Started From the Bottom” — might the one who has allegedly been feeding info about the 6 God to his fierce rival.
The theory notes Zombie’s past ties to Drake, as well as the fact he began working with several West Coast artists after “Started From the Bottom” including The Game, Dom Kennedy and Casey Veggies.
The fan then points to lyrics from Kendrick’s diss song “6:16 in LA” where he raps: “Before you figure that you’re not alone, ask: / ‘What would Mike do?” suggesting that K. Dot was actually referring to Mike Zombie, not Michael Jackson, who had a song called “You Are Not Alone.”
The fan also highlighted the fact that Zombie released a song in 2014 called “616,” which previously caused a stir as Drake was accused of stealing the producer’s flow.
After the theory gainted traction online, Zombie himself appeared to shut down the chatter by writing on X (formerly Twitter): “People Are Hilarious [crying face emoji].”
Elliott Wilson has previously been accused of leaking information about Drake to Kendrick Lamar.
The veteran journalist (who serves as HipHopDX‘s Editorial Director of Hip Hop journalism) revealed during an appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast that Drizzy had sent him a rat emoji prior to the release of “Family Matters,” insinuating that Wilson was a snitch.
Wilson explained how the accusation came about: “I hit him like, ‘Yo, you dropping a joint tonight?’ I’m just sniffing around. He’s like, ‘Yeah, something, lol.’ And I saw the things where he was kinda letting Akademiks know something’s coming, ‘Get it in your stream.’ Letting Kai [Cenat] know something’s coming, ‘Get it in your stream.’ Letting Mal know something’s coming.
“Drake has media relationships and at times, he’s giving us information to help present to the world.”
He continued: “So he teases [a response track], and then out of nowhere, he sent me a rat emoji! I’ve never had a grown man ever send me a disrespectful emoji of any sort. I’m a grown ass man. I’m fuming.”
Wilson said he replied by sending Drake a meme of 50 Cent asking in disbelief: “What he say ‘fuck me’ for?” but the rap star never responded.
The former XXL boss also denied being a snitch: “What would I rat about? Imagine if you said that everything Kendrick knows [is] ’cause Elliott Wilson is telling him that? Kendrick would laugh all day. I’m cool with Kendrick, but we’re not cool like that to even have that level of personal rapport.
“And then, like, what am I telling him? [Drake’s] gonna drop a battle record against you? Yes, n-gga, you’re in a battle! What am I telling you? What is the information I’m telling you?”
