News : ‘Housewife’ Is The Next Release From Tate McRae

Tate McRae is preparing to share her first new release since her 2025 album So Close to What.

The Sports Car artist revealed on social media that her latest track, Housewife, will arrive on Friday (09.10.26).

Whether the single belongs to an upcoming album or another project remains unclear.

Its release comes shortly before the 23 year old singer’s scheduled performance at the 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on October 18.

Discussing her approach to writing songs, Tate has said she begins by maintaining the “most extreme open mind.”

The Greedy performer recognises that "every key has been played" in music, but believes her own "unique perspective" gives her something personal to bring to a song.

Speaking to Billboard about what makes a hit, Tate explained: "You have to think with the most extreme and open mind when you’re writing … [otherwise] it’s the most uninspiring work.

"Everything’s been done before - every key has been played, every word has been used. All you have is your own unique perspective."

For Tate, the success of Greedy in 2023 marked an important shift in her career.

Written by Tate alongside Amy Allen, Jasper Harris and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, the song introduced her second studio album, Think Later, as its lead single and found success around the world.

Reflecting on the songs that hold particular meaning for her, Tate said: "Sports Car is one of my favourite songs of mine. It was such a swing and such a fun song to write.

"Greedy was a very meaningful song to me. When I think back to that phase of my life, I was so lost. I was 19, and this big singing career felt so daunting to me, and it felt like this was one of the first times where I had pure clarity and direction on where I wanted to go visually and sonically."

Lana Del Rey remains Tate McRae’s biggest musical influence, while Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Dean, Olivia Rodrigo and Gracie Abrams are also among the artists she admires.
