Gangsta Gibbs may be the best rapper out right now, and he vows to prove that with his forthcoming album.

The cover star of Mixmag’s Issue 360, Freddie Gibbs spoke on everything from his recent GRAMMY nomination (“If you’re gonna lose to somebody, you’re gonna want to lose to Nas. Nas is a hall of fame MC. If anything it just shows how great I am to lose to such an MC. I could’ve lost to Macklemore or something.”), his past life and subsequent transition into full-time musician, and more.

The most noteworthy tidbits in the interview, however, are the details Freddie shares about his forthcoming album on Warner Records. Code-named ‘SSS,’ Gibbs has revealed that he is working with the likes of PharrellWorking on DyingHit-BoyMike WiLL Made-It, and Sven Thomas, as well as reunions with Madlib and Alchemist.

“It’s another album of the year,” Gibbs proclaimed. “It’s gonna be the best produced album that I ever made.”
