Playboi Carti might finally be ready to release I Am Music — thanks to Kai Cenat.

Posting on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday (February 4), the Atlanta rapper credited the streaming star with putting the battery in his back when it comes to sharing his long-awaited third album with the rest of the world.

Carti reposted a video of Cenat urging the “Magnolia” hitmaker to drop his album during a red carpet interview at the 2025 Grammy Awards this past weekend.

Asked by Access Hollywood what he thought was missing from music in 2025, Kai answered: “The Playboy Carti album. He needs to drop, for real. Carti gotta drop. I know Carti gon’ see this. Carti, just drop!

“I’m on national TV. Drop, gang! You feel what I’m saying? So yeah, that’s what we missing. In my world, a lot of people need that, so we need to make sure that happens.”

Carti did indeed see the interview and commented: “REALEST VIDEO I SEEN IN 2025… BX YAL GOT 1 WITH KAI. DIS VIDEO MIGHT BE DA ONE TO DO IT.”

All signs pointed to Playboi Carti releasing I Am Music before the end of 2024, especially after he premiered a slew of new songs at Rolling Loud Miami in December, but the album has yet to materialize with no firm release date in sight.

Some fans were so annoyed by the continued delay that they created an online petition calling for Carti to be banned from streaming platforms.

The petition, which has almost 9,000 signatures since its launch in late December, reads: “Playboi Carti has consistently deceived and disappointed his loyal fanbase by making empty promises about album releases. Most recently, on December 14, 2023, he assured fans that a new album would drop in 2024.

“Since then, instead of delivering on his word, he has only shared snippets, released random tracks on YouTube and Instagram, and failed to provide the album he promised.”

It continues: “Tomorrow/Today is the last Friday of the year, the traditional release day for new music and there is still no sign of the promised project. This repeated cycle of unfulfilled commitments demonstrates a lack of respect for his fans’ time and support.

“We demand accountability. This petition calls for Playboi Carti to be banned from all music platforms until he honors his promises and demonstrates a genuine commitment to his fanbase. If artists cannot uphold the trust of their listeners, they should not be allowed to profit off their loyalty.”

To kick off the new year, >Carti did get fans hyped by .
