Dame Dash has a long road ahead before he can work his way out of his heavy financial burdens. Still, even with his serious bankruptcy filing this September, that total is not guaranteed to remain where it is. In an exclusive piece from Nolan Strong of AllHipHop, attorney Christopher Brown recently submitted a complaint to the bankruptcy court in Florida.
He argues that Dame Dash’s Chapter 7 filing cannot automatically erase the $4.8 million in judgments that were ordered by the courts. Christopher Brown highlights two specific situations, including a 2022 ruling that granted $823,000 to Dear Frank director Josh Webber.
That amount later jumped by an additional $4 million after Dame Dash disrupted the production of Fast Life, a film Webber had been preparing to direct. Dash made a series of damaging remarks about him on the Earn Your Leisure podcast.
The Roc A Fella co founder believes his bankruptcy should resolve this situation. He said, "All the people that you owe money to, they’re not allowed to sue you anymore. They’re not allowed to sue you for a certain period of time, cause there’s nothing to collect. This dude Chris Brown, he muddies the waters a lot because he’s a lawyer and he’s intelligent. I’m not going to take that from him. But I think he’s dumb because he just wasted a lot of time. Allegedly. I don’t want to catch another lawsuit. Even though I can’t get sued, I got PTSD, I think."
He shared those comments on The Art of Dialogue a few months back.
With Brown’s new filing, he is claiming that Dash’s comments about Webber were so harmful and deliberate that bankruptcy rules should prevent the removal of debts linked to what he describes as willful injury.
Overall, Dame Dash remains far from reaching stable ground. Brown’s latest move suggests that his path toward financial recovery is about to become even more demanding.
The executive is already facing roughly $25 million in debt tied to unpaid taxes, child support, and legal rulings.
