J. Cole graduated from St. John's University in 2007, and nearly two decades later, he’s weaving that part of his story into his musical journey. As part of his "Trunk Sale" tour for the new album The Fall-Off, he made a stop in New York City, specifically Queens, to return to his alma mater, connect with fans, and personally sell copies of his latest record.
Cole World shared some standout clips from this tour stop on Twitter, while 2Cool2Blog posted a clip on Instagram from Brian "B.Dot" Miller’s Story showing the Dreamville rapper greeting fans and joking around in a Queens deli. This marked the latest stop on his "Trunk Sale" trek, which has already visited cities in North Carolina and several locations in the DMV. It looks like Cole may continue traveling across the United States, and fans have found these moments incredibly heartwarming so far.
In the clips, you can see dozens of fans approaching the North Carolina lyricist, soaking in the excitement of a meet-and-greet-style experience. Of course, not everyone online is supportive, as there will always be critics, but the energy from these in-person encounters seems to outweigh any negativity.
For fans eager to know where the "Trunk Sale" tour will head next, J. Cole shared on Twitter that he’s taking a short pause to spend time with his family after his NYC stop. “Thanks for the love. Tired!!! Taking the weekend off to spend with the family. The plan is to head out again next week. Peace,” he wrote.
It remains to be seen whether the tour will continue along the East Coast or move to other regions in the U.S. Expanding the tour further could be logistically tricky, but fans are clearly enjoying the unique experience so far.
Regardless of the tour, The Fall-Off is performing strongly. Early projections suggest it could become J. Cole’s seventh number one album on the Billboard charts, moving around 291K album-equivalent units in its first week. Fans and critics alike will be watching to see the official numbers when they’re released.
