Tomorrow X Together members Yeonjun and Soobin have opened up about a time when their close friendship went through a difficult moment, and how BTS member RM ended up being the one who helped them work through it.
The K-pop stars appeared on the March 31 KST broadcast of Salon Drip, where Soobin shared that he wanted to talk openly about a time when fans may have noticed some distance between them.
He shared: “I wanted to talk about our relationship first."
He admitted that “there was a period when things felt a little uncomfortable between us.”
The change came around the time Yeonjun started his first solo activities, something he now says brought more emotional weight than he expected.
He explained that he normally depends on people around him when things get tough, but at that time he chose to keep everything inside.
He said: “I normally talk to people when I’m having a hard time, but during that time I felt like I needed to handle everything by myself."
Not knowing what else to do, Yeonjun later reached out to RM for guidance.
He shared that the BTS member advised him not to avoid the situation any longer.
He recalled: “He told me, ‘I hope you face the things that make you uncomfortable.’”
Those words gave Yeonjun the push he needed to finally talk honestly with Soobin.
He said: “There was a time when Soobin and I had a disagreement and things became uncomfortable."
Yeonjun then suggested they spend time together so they could properly talk about what had been building up.
Soobin said that time was emotionally difficult for him too.
He shared: “Yeonjun hyung usually doesn’t express his emotions, but during that time it was very noticeable."
Soobin said he could see Yeonjun saying he was okay even when it was obvious he was having a hard time, comparing it to him having “built emotional walls.”
They eventually sat down together over drinks, and for Soobin, that moment changed everything.
He said: “That day, while we were drinking together, he opened up honestly for the first time in years. I ended up crying. He felt like someone I worried about a lot, and although it was a difficult time for him, it also felt like he was growing into a better person.”
