Megan Thee Stallion became visibly emotional during her performance in Moulin Rouge! The Musical following her breakup with Klay Thompson.
In fan-recorded clips from her Saturday, April 25 appearance at the Tony Award-winning Broadway production in New York City, the 31-year-old artist can be seen tearing up onstage during the curtain call, just hours after confirming her split from the basketball star amid allegations of infidelity.
Still dressed in costume, the “WAP” performer turned away from the cheering crowd to wipe tears from her face as the audience rose to their feet in applause.
The three-time Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper recently stepped onto Broadway for the first time in Moulin Rouge!, becoming the first female-identifying artist to take on the role of Zidler. Her limited engagement began March 24 and continues through May 17 at New York’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
Ahead of the weekend performance, Megan publicly confirmed her breakup with Thompson through social media.
“Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house… got ‘cold feet,’” she shared on her Instagram Stories. “Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous’????”
She later addressed the split more formally in a statement obtained by Billboard.
“I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay,” Megan explained. “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”
The rapper and the Dallas Mavericks shooting guard began dating in the summer of 2025. Megan previously described their first meeting as “a meet cute” and once called him “the nicest person I’ve ever met in my life.” They made their red carpet debut together in New York City that July.
Last Thanksgiving, Thompson even named his boat after her, calling it “SS Stallion,” and the couple spent the holiday alongside his family.
Earlier this year, Megan shared that she was “manifesting my engagement” in a video filmed in Milan with Olympic athletes Brittany Bowe and Hilary Knight, who are engaged.
