News : Man Receives Jail Sentence In Theft Of Unreleased Beyoncé Music Files

A man who broke into a rental vehicle and stole hard drives containing unreleased Beyoncé music has been sentenced to two years behind bars, followed by three years of probation.

Kelvin Evans, 41, pleaded guilty to charges including entering an automobile and criminal trespass following the July 2025 incident in Atlanta, which happened while Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour was making its stop in the city.

Investigators said Evans did not appear to specifically target the vehicle.

The rented Jeep Wagoneer, used by Beyoncé choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue, was discovered with its rear window smashed and several bags missing. Authorities confirmed the stolen property, including the hard drives, has still not been recovered.

Evans agreed to a plea deal during a court appearance on May 12, according to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

His attorney told the court that Evans hopes to build “a future where he can make money legitimately and be part of society like the rest of us.”

During the case, prosecutors presented surveillance footage showing a red Hyundai stopping beside the rented Jeep inside an Atlanta parking garage. Additional video reportedly showed the same vehicle arriving later at an apartment complex, where Evans was allegedly seen handling suitcases connected to Grant and Blue.

Police said the stolen bags included two MacBooks, Apple headphones, luxury items and hard drives containing unreleased Beyoncé recordings.

Grant also informed officers that the luggage held “personal sensitive information” related to the superstar.

Investigators later stated that laptop tracking information led them to the same address captured in the surveillance footage.

As part of the sentence, Evans has been ordered to avoid contact with both victims and stay away from the parking garage where the theft occurred. He has remained in custody since being arrested in August 2025.
