Halsey recently shared a funny story about the night Miley Cyrus quickly left one of her house parties after police officers arrived.

Appearing on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast on Tuesday, the “Without Me” singer looked back on hosting a housewarming party and inviting a group of friends over to celebrate.

“The police come... and I'm drunk. They're like, ‘We want to talk to the owner of the house.’ I'm like, ‘Well, I guess that's me ’cause I just bought the house,’” Halsey told hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco. “So, I go outside to talk to the police and they're like, ‘We got to shut this down.’ I'm like, ‘No, you don't.’”

The singer, whose real name is Ashley Frangipane, explained that she immediately started questioning officers about what rule she had supposedly broken by hosting the gathering.

“I don't know what happened to me. I switched on,” the 31 year old recalled. “I was like, ‘We're operating within the legal sound decibel limit. We're not exceeding fire code. There's no cars parked on the street. And I haven't exceeded the amount of people that I can have in the premises.’ I was like, ‘So what law am I breaking?’ And they were like, ‘The law of common sense.’ I was like, ‘That's not a real law. See you later, officers.’”

As the officers began leaving the property, Halsey noticed Miley suddenly making her own exit from the party.

“She had a bag of Postmates in her hand. She's like, ‘Got to go, girl. Got to go.’ Running away,” Halsey laughed.

Earlier in the interview, Halsey also compared herself to Jay Gatsby from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic 1925 novel The Great Gatsby while reflecting on her early years in Hollywood.

“I would throw a party, I'd hang out in my bedroom most of the time, and then everyone would leave and I would be like, ‘I did it. I socialised and now everybody is going to like me,’” the “Closer” artist shared.

Halsey released her fifth studio album, The Great Impersonator, in October 2024.
