Blossoms have unveiled details of their forthcoming album, ‘Songs From The Wedding Cake’, and announced an extensive UK arena tour to support the release.
The Manchester indie favourites are set to release their sixth studio album on October 2 through ODD SK / Distiller Records. Fans can now pre-order and pre-save the record ahead of its arrival.
The campaign began with lead single ‘Joke About Divorce’, and today (June 18) the band have followed it up with the release of ‘Meet Me In Love’. Alongside the new track, they have also shared an album trailer starring The Inbetweeners actor James Buckley. The music video for ‘Meet Me In Love’ features appearances from Maya Jama and Callum Scott Howells, while Declan McKenna contributes backing vocals.
Produced by Shawn Lee of Young Gun Silver Fox, the album will also include a collaboration with McKenna on the song ‘Additional Driver’. The band have further hinted on social media that Rick Astley and Inhaler singer Elijah Hewson will make appearances connected to the project.
Speaking about the album on social media, Blossoms described the experience of creating it as “an absolute joy”. They added: “Written and recorded over the last year, it’s a collection of songs about what might seem like ordinary moments, viewed through an extraordinary lens… joking about divorce, hire cars, crying at the Kardashians, Wikipedia rabbit holes, trips to The Range, falling asleep in a taxi, your arm going numb because someone’s asleep on it, the 192, being an additional driver on your wife’s insurance and losing her 20 years’ no-claims bonus (ffs), dancing in the kitchen to Grease, crying at videos of dogs on Instagram, picking up parquet flooring, saying the wrong thing, growing older together… you get the idea.”

When NME caught up with Blossoms in 2024, frontman Tom Ogden reflected on working with CMAT on the album ‘Gary’.
“That was definitely a breakthrough moment,” Ogden told us. “I heard her album while I was record shopping in Brighton, and every tune was just blowing me away, so I went up to the counter and asked who it was, and it turned out she was playing in town that night. We went to see her in this tiny venue – it blew us away, and Myles cried. Then we went for a few drinks around some pubs in Brighton and had a great laugh.
“When it came to writing the album, we’d booked some time away in Wales, which she ended up coming along with us for the week. There was this injection of adrenaline into the band, and we came out with two incredible songs.”
