Trippie Redd has been a victim of music leaks in the past couple of years with almost entire albums leaking on the internet by unknown people.

In January, 2021, his entire Neon Shark album (a deluxe edition of Pegasussurfaced online. Before that as well, his Pegasus album featuring Future, Lil Wayne, PARTYNEXDOOR and more had also leaked online in its entirety.

The rapper also faced the difficult situation recently before the release of his latest album Mansion Muzik. He has now opened up about it for the first time in an interview with Apple Music. He reveals that he was held at ransom for his music for a whopping $1 million by hackers.

“I ain’t really speak on it, but I’m going to speak on it. I was held for ransom on my project. They wanted me to pay them a million dollars because they had all my records. Every single last one. All the features. Some hackers,” Trippie said.

He also explained why some of the songs don’t sound good mix wise. “They had all my songs, so I had to rush the project out. And then on top of that, the Travis song, I had it, but I didn’t have the session. So that’s what Travis sent to me, I didn’t mix it. My engineer didn’t mix it. That’s what Travis sent to me. I had to run with it because if I didn’t, the whole project was going to release and it would’ve been a big thing.”

He continued to speak on the leaks situation, saying he’s been facing it for quite some time now but doesn’t know how to stop it. “And this has been a big thing. They have been hacking and leaking shit like crazy, at least my last two, three albums. I don’t know how they do it. Pegasus, it probably leaked two months before it dropped, bro, and it still did extremely well. I was like, ‘If I don’t drop it now, then it’s going to be out there and they’re going to hear it regardless. They’re going to hear the bad mix regardless, so I’m going to put it out unmixed and see what they think.’ But I’m going to fix the mix though. It’s going to be fix everything. I needed time. Yeah, the album did leak, actually, too. I work through anything. God got the last laugh, you feel me? Like the devil going to throw so much at you, you can’t really let it bother you. Just take the bruises, you’ll heal eventually.
