Real Boston Richey has once again ignited a firestorm of controversy — and this time, his controversy forced a university to suspend its popular football program.

The commotion arose when the Freebandz signee dropped his music video for “Send a Blitz” on YouTube on Friday (July 21). The video, which was shot in the football locker room of Florida A&M University, features Richey wearing an orange A&M shirt and rocking an official A&M helmet. What’s more, the team’s football players are easily identifiable in the background.

The university left a scathing comment on Real Boston Richey’s Instagram post promoting his video, in which they strongly condemned the release.

“This is an unauthorized music video shot on our campus and we are conducting an immediate investigation to determine how it happened,” they wrote. “This video does not represent our core values, nor our commitment to “Excellence with Caring” in all aspects of the University, including athletics.”

It may not, however, be just as simple as an Instagram lashing for Real Boston Richey. According to USA Today, featuring officially branded uniforms may be a violation of Florida A&M’s licensing and branding agreements. So, it’s possible — though unclear, as of this writing — that the rapper will face a real financial impact for his behavior.

As a result of the unauthorized music video, the school has suspended its football program, pending the outcome of an investigation as to how the shoot was allowed to happen in the first place.

“Earlier today, it was brought to my attention that a rap video was shot by a prominent rapper in the football locker room of Galimore-Power Fieldhouse without proper authorization,” Coach Willie Simmons wrote in an official statement on Twitter.

“The video contained graphic language that is not consistent with Florida A&M’s core values, principles, and beliefs, and an internal investigation is underway to determine who authorized the use of not only the athletic facility at Galimore-Powell but also licensed apparel that potentially violates university branding and licensing agreements.”

He continued: “Although I am a proud proponent of free speech and support all forms of musical expression, this football team (as ambassadors of Florida A&M University) has a responsibility to protect the University’s image. As a result of this unfortunate situation, as head football coach, I am effectively suspending all football-related activities until further notice.”

“It is a privilege to wear the Orange and Green, and as a football program, our young men have failed to live up to the standard set before us. They will all learn from this mishap, and we will continue to work hard every day to become the best version of ourselves and continue to make Rattler Nation proud,” he concluded.

This is just the latest bit of drama in Real Boston Richey’s burgeoning career. Earlier this week, he was forced to defend himself after coming under fire for his use of an incest lyric connected to his cousin during his XXL Freshman cypher.

The Florida native raised eyebrows when the controversial freestyle bar went viral earlier this week and he was excoriated for it across social media. “Always been a freaky jit, trying to fuck my cousin under the covers,” the “Bullseye 2” artist rapped.

Richey heard the criticism and doubled down on his bars regarding his desire to have sexual relations with his cousin while growing up. “Lie and say yeen try to hunch yo cousin wit clothes on as a child ugly ass jit,” he tweeted.
