AC/DC members Brian Johnson and Angus Young have admitted that falling onstage is one of their greatest concerns.

Both musicians have spoken about the challenges of performing in their 70s, with 71 year old guitarist Angus revealing that he frequently worries about tripping and suffering a serious injury.

In a joint conversation with USA Today, Angus shared: “I just worry about if I'm going to trip over … That's about it.”

Brian, 78, responded: “Yeah, just stupid s*** like that … On the stage, you can't just immediately do things. You have to learn to watch the other person and ...

“But we're doing things now we didn't think of doing before, interacting. It's just more fun because we don't care anymore.

“When you're younger, you take yourself very seriously. You know, you think, ‘I'm in a big rock and roll band.’ I never used to smile or anything. ‘Cause that's what what you thought you were supposed to [do].”

Discussing how he remains focused during performances, Brian continued: “I think it's still the unknown. You're all rehearsed, you know all your parts and your bits and pieces. But [the unpredictability] still keeps you on edge, you know, to be your best.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Brian discussed his experience with hearing loss and explained that he now relies on a device known as an ADEL, or Ambrose Diaphonic Ear Lens, connected to his ear monitors while singing with AC/DC.

The musician said his hearing problems were not caused by decades of loud concerts. Instead, he revealed that a case of flu during the band’s 2016 tour was responsible for the damage.

Brian recalled: “We were in Winnipeg or somewhere like that and it was cold and wet and you’re sweating. But it’s freezing and you have to quick, hurry up, get on the plane and we took off and my ears got so crystallized and the rest was just nasty.

“But anyway, I’m a happy ending.”

AC/DC began the North American portion of their Power Up Tour on July 11. The group will continue performing throughout the summer before wrapping up the run in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 29.
