Usher has become the latest American pop star to cross over into the K-Pop circuit, as BTS sweetheart Jung Kook has teased a new remix with him that is right around the corner.

On Tuesday (November 28), Big Hit Music announced that an alternate take on “Standing Next to You” featuring the R&B superstar will go public on December 1.

The original version of the song was released earlier this month as part of the Korean hitmaker’s debut solo album, Golden, which features cameos by several other A-listers from the United States.

The forthcoming collaboration shouldn’t come as a surprise to those who have followed his career, given that BTS name-dropped the 45-year-old R&B icon on their song “Butter,” with the lyrics: “Don’t need no Usher/ To remind me you got it bad.”

Just a few months back, Jack Harlow teamed up with Jung Kook, contributing guest verses to his single “3D.”

Prior to that, the K-Pop sensation joined forces with Latto for what became one of Hip Hop’s first big commercial wins this year. “Seven” broke multiple Spotify records and even debuted at No. 1 on the global platform with 15.995 million streams.

A few weeks after its release, the song shot up the late-July Hot 100 rankings, hitting No. 1, which was a first for both artists involved. Furthermore, this feat made Latto the first rapper to top the Billboard chart in 2023.

Both songs mentioned above made it on Jung Kook’s new LP, in addition to contributions from Major Lazer and DJ Snake.

In similar news from earlier this year, J. Cole teamed up with J-Hope, who is also a member of BTS, for a single titled “On the Street.” On it, he spits a series of introspective bars characteristic of a man looking to move on to greener pastures.

Some days, I wonder if I need to pick a different hobby/ I’m deep in with this rappin’, it’s all a n-gga know/ I never didn’t nothin’ better, it’s hard to let it go/ But like a father watching his daughter/ Walk down the altar with tears in his eyes/ You gotta let her grow,” he raps.
