Snoop Dogg‘s career as an Olympic commentator had a little rough patch when he got teased on camera by the mother of legendary gymnast Simone Biles.

Tha Doggfather and The Today Show‘s Hoda Kotb talked to the Biles clan — minus the soon-to-be-competing star — on Friday (July 26).

Nellie Biles recalled that she and Simone ran into Snoop in Times Square back in 2010.

“We asked for a picture,” she began. “You said [to wait for] two minutes. And you were gone.”

Check it out below.

Among Snoop’s other Olympic highlights so far has been his time as a torchbearer.

The news of Snoop’s newest gig was revealed last week, when the mayor of Saint-Denis, France announced it on social media.

Taking to Instagram to react, Snoop shared a screenshot of an article about the honor and added, “U gots to do it!! Will u be watchin?? #FollowTheDogg #ParisOlympics”

On top of his sports media work, Snoop is still heavily involved in the music world. Last week, he introduced Death Row’s new signee to the world.

In a joint Instagram post, Snoop and Death Row wrote: “Introducing the newest artist on Death Row Records… Pasadena’s Finest: Charlie Bereal. @charliebereal.”

The post included a video teaser of Bereal’s debut single on the label, “Never Gonna Take Away My Love,” ahead of its release on Friday (July 26).

Heavily inspired by 1970s soul, the slow jam showcases the California crooner’s sweet singing voice and tender songwriting.

“You were there when no one/ Cared to come around/ You were the only one who/ Can change my frown/ Into a smile,” he sings.

Snoop Dogg’s Instagram announcement was met with widespread praise from fans, with one commenting: “This is great for the culture! Charlie Bereal and Snoop both have an appreciation for 70’s RnB music! The vibe is apparent!!”

Another impressed listener wrote: “Ooooooooo Death Row got another one!” while someone else said: “gawd damn this goes hard.”

Former Death Row affiliate The D.O.C. and R&B star Mario Winans also gave their stamp of approval, writing: “Dope” and “YEAAAAAAAAAA BRO!!!!!!!” respectively.

Charlie Bereal (pronounced “Burrell”) joins a revamped Death Row roster that also includes D Smoke, Jane Handcock and Snoop Dogg himself.
