News : Gunna & Chlöe Bailey Dissed By Jon B For Turning His Hit Song Into 'Ratchet Record'

Gunna and Chlöe Bailey sampled Jon B‘s 1997 hit “They Don’t Know” on their 2022 collab “You & Me” – but he is not a fan.

Appearing on a new episode of the Can We Talk R&B? podcast published on Wednesday (July 31), Jon reflected on the popularity of “They Don’t Know” and how it gets sampled quite often – most recently by Robin Thicke. Jon seemed to be pleased with Thicke’s rendition, but Gunna and Chlöe’s DS4Ever cut got quite a different reaction.

“You & Me” samples “They Don’t Know” in the intro and interpolates the song lyrics on the chorus.

“They put that ratchet record out that I couldn’t stand and I wish they never did,” he said, before revealing what’s likely a major force behind his disdain for the song. “[They] never actually never got my rights to do that record either, so Gunna – we gotta holla about that. That’s some business shit we gotta handle.”

He added: “If you made a hit in your area – you do your song, whatever it is – I’m not going to just come into your area, take your joint and make it mine and not pay you or whatever.”

Gunna and Chlöe Bailey were rumored to be dating at the time of the song’s release, having attended an Atlanta Hawks game together, shortly after the YSL rapper publicly thirsted over the singer on Instagram.

Both artists had shot down the dating rumors, but another hand-holding sighting at a Los Angeles Lakers game in January 2022 only added more fuel to the fire.

Shortly after, a video surfaced of the pair holding hands as they exited a car and walked into a clothing store together. The rumored couple were later seen hugging, laughing and caressing each other inside.

Gunna was taken into custody for the ongoing YSL RICO case in May of that year, however, so whatever romance was seemingly put on the back-burner.

But in March, fans speculated they’ve re-ignited their romance as they appeared cozy at Offset‘s Los Angeles show, where they were both special guests.

It’s currently not clear whether the two are merely just friends, for now, or have reunited for good.
