Post Malone has opened up about the impact his daughter has had on his life.
The artist – real name Austin Richard Post – keeps his two-year-old daughter’s name private, and has her initials tattooed on his forehead.
On Sunday (August 11), he appeared on CBS Sunday Morning, and was asked about a ‘Yours’, a track from ‘F-1 Trillion‘ that sees him imagine his daughter’s wedding day. His country-inspired sixth studio record is out on August 16. You can pre-order/pre-save it here.
He said he had “written a whole lot of songs” about his only child. “It changes your life in the best way ever,” he shared. “I’ll never forget her. If you’ve heard her cry, you’ll never forget her, either.”
The musician also touched on loneliness, and how he felt lost on a “rough path” before finding his current partner, who he called the “number one mom in the fucking universe”, explaining that he use to break down in tears and drink often.
“I don’t feel like that anymore and that’s the most amazing thing,” he said, before adding that he “needed to” go through that experience to “figure out” who he is.
Back in 2023, the ‘Sunflower’ singer appeared on an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, and revealed he’d cut down his drinking because of his daughter. “I guess not being able to be there for my baby, which is a new fear,” he said. “That’s why I tried to slow down on drinking, to take better care of my body.”
As for the upcoming album, he recently announced the full tracklist, with Dolly Parton and Tim McGraw among the featured guests.
Additionally, Posty has joined forces with the likes of Chris Stapleton (on ‘California Sober’), Hank Williams Jr. (‘Finer Things’), Brad Paisley (‘Goes Without Saying’), Lainey Wilson (‘Nosedive’) and Sierra Ferrell (‘Never Love You Again’).
