Kanye West and Kid Cudi fans were treated to yet another collaboration from the Kids See Ghosts duo earlier this month, but the release apparently came as a complete surprise to the latter.

While interacting with fans on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday (August 25), Cudi admitted he had no idea that “Gun to My Head,” a bonus track from Ye’s Vultures 2 album with Ty Dolla $ign featuring himself, had been released.

In response to a user who praised his vocal performance on the song, the Man on the Moon maestro wrote: “Its tasty. Hope Ye drops that one day.”

That prompted another fan to inform Cudi that the song was already out, catching the Cleveland native off guard.

“Where??? I wanna hear I forgot what it sounds like [crying face emoji] I only heard it once since I recorded it when he played it that one time at the listening event,” Cudi replied.

After someone else told him that the song is available to buy on Kanye’s website (but is seemingly “sold out”), Mr. Rager wrote: “What da hell is he doin??? Haha ima talk to him.”

“Gun to My Head” is one of several bonus songs that Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign have released as part of various digital deluxe editions of Vultures 2.

Other deluxe tracks include “Take Off Your Dress,” “Believer,” “Drunk” featuring Kodak BlackBad Bunny and Peso Pluma, and the Travis Scott-assisted “Can U Be.”

All of them are currently only available to purchase on Kanye’s Yeezy website and have yet to be released on streaming services.

Kanye and Kid Cudi have remained prolific collaborators since first linking up in 2008, teaming up on songs like “Gorgeous,” “Make Her Say,” “Erase Me,” “Guilt Trip,” “Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 2” and “No Mistakes.”

They also released the joint album Kids See Ghosts in 2018.

However, their relationship outside of the studio has been anything but smooth as they’ve clashed numerous times over the years.

Their most bitter falling out came in 2022 when Kanye cut Cudi from Donda 2 over his friendship with comedian/actor Pete Davidson, who at the time was dating Kanye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian.

After trading shots with each other, the Lonely Stoner even declared that he would no longer work with Ye, tweeting: “I am not cool w that man. He’s not my friend.”

The former G.O.O.D. Music labelmates eventually buried the hatchet at a Vultures listening party last year, with Cudi later revealing that Kanye apologized to him for their spat.

“The reason we became cool again is he apologized to me. And it was sincere. I was like, ‘Wow, Kanye does not apologize to anyone, he doesn’t say sorry to anyone,'” he told Zane Lowe.

“That’s my brother man, I know he loves me. There’s just nothing like Kanye and Cudi. We like the duo everybody loves to see.”
