A few days after Florence and the Machine announced their long-anticipated sixth studio record, Everybody Scream, the group released the title track along with its official video on Wednesday.
In the haunting clip, Florence Welch is seen wearing a flowing crimson gown as she storms through a shadowy, dreamlike setting before crashing into a room, instantly sending everyone around her into a trance-like frenzy. “But look at me running myself ragged,” she cries out. “Blood on the stage/But how can I leave you when you’re screaming my name?”
Welch co-wrote the first single, Idles guitarist Mark Bow, and Mitski, while the music video was brought to life by filmmaker Emma’s Autumn de Wilde.
Everybody Scream is scheduled for release on Oct. 31. The 12-track record is already up for pre-order through the band’s official site, with a special “Chamber Version” edition also available, featuring “four exclusive” alternate takes on songs from the album.
Although this marks Florence and the Machine’s first full-length release since 2022’s Dance Fever, the band has continued sharing music in the meantime. In 2023, they released “Mermaids” and also recorded a cover of No Doubt’s “Just a Girl” for the Yellowjackets soundtrack.
