Megan Thee Stallion and her former label have finally put their legal dispute to rest after landing on an agreement.
On Thursday (October 19), Billboard reported that attorneys representing 1501 Certified Entertainment announced that both parties involved have “mutually reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences,” with the Houston Hottie now being released from her deal which she previously described as “unconscionable.”
“Both Megan and 1501 are pleased to put this matter behind them and move forward with the next chapter of their respective businesses,” the imprint wrote in a statement wishing the 28-year-old the best on her future endeavors.
The exact terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.
Last week, the “WAP” hitmaker revealed that she’s officially without a label, saying that she’ll be footing the bill for her new album. In early October, she took to Instagram Live to drop the bombshell on her fanbase, revealing that she is independent for the first time since “it was just me and my mama.”
“I have no label right now, we’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pocket,” she said. “The next shit y’all about to see about to be all straight from Megan Thee Stallion, Megan Thee Stallion brain, Megan Thee Stallion wallet.”
She continued: “I’m so excited to be doing something for the first time independent, since it was just me and my mama. I don’t wanna sign to a new label right now because … I just wanna do it myself.”
