Z-Ro has put out the long-awaited video to his 2020 track “Stop the Reign” which is a remake of Shaquille O’Neal’s 1996 single, “You Can’t Stop the Reign.”

On Sunday (July 9), the Houston rapper released the visual which features both himself and the NBA Hall Of Fame center.

Throughout the visual, both men are seen trading solid bars back and forth while riding throughout Houston in an all-white drop top Rolls-Royce. They also make sure they are decked out in an assortment of diamond chains with hefty pendents.

Taken from Z-Ro’s 2020 album Rohammad Ali, the H-Town spitter keeps his verse drenched in Southern flair while reminding fans why he’s been one of the most consistent artists over the last 20 years.

“It’s enough food for everybody to chew/ Stop actin’ like the game has fed everybody but you/ You can go all the way to 10, stop stoppin’ at 2/ My bad bitches ain’t stayin’, they just droppin’ it through,” he raps over the Shaq-sampled track.

Shaq spits his bars in a old-school, laid-back style but still makes sure to keep it trill alongside the former Rap-A-Lot Records rapper.

I’m like my boy Killa Kyleon/ I’m like Big when I get in the booth/ ABN like Trae, I be spittin’ the truth/ H-Town diesel dog. Yo they lovin’ the south/ Think you get my beans and cornbread? Get the taste out your mouth/ Or, part 2, my killin’ spree gon’ commence/ You can’t stop the rain. How many times I gotta tell you this?,” he raps.

Check out the video below:

Although it’s widely glossed over, Shaq was a platinum-selling rapper in the 1990s and released four studio albums. His 1996 album You Can’t Stop the Reign features the title track which The Notorious B.I.G. also appears on.

Shaq utilized British band Loose Ends’ 1985 soul track, “You Can’t Stop the Rain,” as the bassline for his classic track.

During an interview on Drink Champs last October, the four-time NBA champion spoke about Biggie having an unreleased verse for the song.

“So when I finally got the word that Big was going to do it I did a verse but I didn’t like it,” Shaq said. “My thing is this is Big coming in. One I gotta impress Big cause if Big say, ‘No, this is terrible,’ I’m done. I won’t get a second shot.”

He continued: “So I did it, let my boys hear it, he ain’t bop his head but I didn’t care. I let my other boy hear it he didn’t like it, I let my other boy hear it and he said that one is tight. So Big flew down him and Lil Cease, so I’m nervous.

“He’s like, ‘Ok big dog, that’s tight, that’s tight.’ And then I said, ‘Ok, he likes it.’ I’m going to let him and Lil Cease do their thing. I said, ‘Here you go Big, here’s the pad and pen. Hit this button right here, I’m going to be in the house,’ and he’s like, ‘No, I’m ready now,’ and I said, ‘What you mean ready right now,’ and he starts smiling, and he went in there, and he killed it.

“And the first verse, I’m the only one that got it, and I’ll never play it, he went off, and I damn near had a tear in my eye cause I had to press that button and I’m like, ‘Umm Big,’ and he’s like, ‘Yeah, yeah, for the kids, for the kids. My bad, Diesel,’ and then he did the verse in the song. I got it, but I’m not going to play it.”

“You Can’t Stop the Reign” peaked at No. 54 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Single & Tracks chart. The song had three different versions released: a single version with three verses from Shaq, the album version with two verses from Biggie and a third, a remix done by DJ Quik.
